Gethsemane
A paraphrase on Matthew 26:26-46/Mark 14:32-42
't Is ev'ning in Gethsemane:
My friends would you keep watch with me?
I am in mortal agony,
wait while I with My Father plea.
He knows what lies ahead of Him
and He walks on to be alone.
For Him to face a task so grim,
He goes before His Father's throne.
Oh Father, take this cup from me,
but not My will, Your will be done.
If I must drink, so let it be,
I'm here to see Your will is done.
His friends are now all fast asleep.
Could you this hour not watch with me?
Three times He went to pray and weep,
His foll'wers could their watch not keep.
The hour that the Son of Man
will be betrayed is very near.
I'll be betrayed by sinful man,
come let us now go hence from here.
